Hello, I’m Kate Montagu, a UKCP-accredited Gestalt psychotherapist offering therapy with a particular emphasis on couples and families, as well as individuals. I work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, including neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ clients. Please get in touch if you’d like to book a session or ask any questions.

My path into psychotherapy grew from a long-standing commitment to care, connection, and personal growth. For over ten years, I worked as a massage therapist, supporting clients through hands-on, body-based work. This experience gave me a deep appreciation of the mind–body connection, nervous system regulation, and the importance of empathy, presence, and safety in healing relationships.

As my work evolved, I felt drawn to supporting not only individuals, but also couples and families navigating relationship challenges, communication difficulties, and life transitions. This led me to complete a Master’s degree in Gestalt Psychotherapy, which now forms the foundation of my practice.

Gestalt Therapy is a relational, experiential approach that focuses on what is happening in the present moment. Rather than trying to “fix” people, it supports awareness, choice, and authentic connection. Together, we explore patterns of communication, emotional responses, and relational dynamics, gently noticing what supports connection and what may be creating distance or misunderstanding.

In my work with couples and families, I support you to:

  • Improve communication and mutual understanding

  • Navigate conflict with greater awareness and care

  • Explore repeating relational patterns

  • Rebuild trust and emotional safety

  • Strengthen connection in neurodivergent and mixed-neurotype relationships

Sessions may include dialogue, creative and experiential exercises, and practical tools that support real-life change, while always moving at a pace that feels respectful and manageable.

I have a particular interest in working with neurodivergent individuals, couples, and families, including autistic clients and those navigating differences in communication, sensory needs, emotional processing, or relational expectations. I also offer an affirming, inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ clients and those in complex or non-traditional relationship structures.

My approach is collaborative, trauma-aware, and tailored to your unique needs. I value curiosity over judgment, and relationship over diagnosis. Therapy with me is a space where difference is respected, emotions are welcomed, and new ways of relating can gently emerge.

It is a privilege to walk alongside you in this work. Whether you are seeking therapy as an individual, a couple, or a family, I am here to support you in developing greater self-understanding, emotional resilience, and more meaningful, connected relationships.

Get in touch today to book a session or learn more about how I can support you and your loved ones. I look forward to connecting with you.
